Tesla Model 3 1.0 "Billet Uprights coming soon.

These are super cool and packed with all the features I could come up. But with that, they also have a lot of things that need to be understood with fitting. The easiest way to tackle all the items is to just throw it into bullet points. Then we'll address buzzwords and what they mean.

  • 1.0" of correction

    • There are 2 version, 1.5in and 1.0in. What that means is the Roll Centers are adjusted to compensate for that much lowering from stock.
    • Benefit of 1.5 over 1.0 is reduced roll couple and increased camber gain.
  • Camber Adjustment

    • 6 settings of camber in increments of 0.3 degrees starting from +0.
    • With appropriate lowering and max camber, more than -3degrees is attainable without upper control arms (FUCA)
  • Bump Steer Adjustment

    • +/- 3/8 (9.5mm) adjustment but starts as close to zero as tested.
    • Caster changes will have the largest effect on bumpsteer if modified.
  • 18" + wheels only, some trimming may be needed

    • Due to ball joint mount movement, the 1.0" upright only fits 18"+ wheels.
    • Depending on wheel flex (yes, wheels do flex!), the ball joint threads may need a bit of clearancing.
      • Ex. Konig Hypergram 18x11 is a great value but a pretty flexy wheel.
  • Upright offset for inner wheel clearance - High/Low

    • TO RUN HIGH OFFSET YOU NEED SSB UPPER CONTROL ARM
    • The OEM upper control arm is a big limiter on inboard clearance to make the upright offset greater. At max compression there is a lot of angle in the upper arm so something custom is needed to get much more offset than OEM.
    • 5mm extra clearance is all we can get with the Low Offset for stock upper arm. That is great, but an adjustable upper control arm will have a bigger effect on bringing in the upright for tire clearance relative to fender.
    • Paired with anyones FUCA will have far more inner wheel hoop clearance and slightly more tire clearance.
    • Paired with SSB FUCA will have enough inner clearance for 305-315 tires but steering clearances may be reduced.
  • Droop travel and Axle clearance

    • The change in lower ball joint will reduce droop by about 0.35" and moves the Axle up relative to shock.
    • There isn't enough clearance on some coilovers. MPP/KW works with a bit of trimming. Ohlins do not clear. Unplugged Performance may clear, need more measurements to verify.
    • Available soon (or now if Ive forgotten to update this) are extended lower mounts for KW/MPP and Ohlins.
